World Water Day is observed every year on 22 March around the world. It is celebrated to highlight the importance of freshwater and to spread awareness about it.

Environmental Club of Civil Engineering Department, DYPIEMR, Akurdi, has celebrated World Water Day 2022 by organizing the River Cleaning Drive for Pawana River Patch in Ravet, Pune.

Total 100 students have participated in the drive.

The drive has been supported by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Students of Civil Engineering Department, Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Engineering, Management and Research won the 2nd prize at the event named "A Regional Level Swachh Technology challenge (स्वच्छ नावीन्य पूर्ण तंत्रज्ञान स्पर्धा)conducted by Pimpri chinchwad municipal corporation".
More than 20 teams participated in the event from PCMC Region.
For their idea on "Proper management of Organic waste as product in Composting - a way of achieving", team was awarded with certificate and a cash prize of Rs.31,000/-

Students of Civil Engineering Department had visited ISRO, BARC and IMD Projects Exhibition at VJIT, Mumbai on 28th December 2019.
The students got insight about Role of Engineers in field of Space , Agriculture and Climate condition. Interesting Projects with scale model of well known Chandrayan 1 and 2, Vikram were displayed. Students also interacted with the ISRO official to clear their doubts.

All SE and TE Civil student had praticipted in the technical event which was held on 26/7/2014. This event was contucted under the IESC (Institution of engineers of students chapter). There were total Five team named as 1.Earth, 2.Water, 3.Wind, 4.Sky, 5.Fire and each team were having 4 participent 2 from SE and 2 from TE. This event was judged by the HOD of CIVIL Dept. Mrs. Amruta Kulkarni. The winner of the technical event was Fire team.

Geology Visit to Central Water Power Research Station, Pune

As per the curriculum of Second Year Civil by University of Pune site visits are to be conducted under the subject Engineering Geology. Following are the details regarding the site visit of Second Year Students from civil engineering department.

Students visited to site under the guidance of Mr. Rangnath Sir, CWPRS, Pune. Mr Tambe, Visit assisting officer, CWPRS, Pune has assisted students for each and every spot on site.

During site visit, student studied following details in technically and practically which are also included in syllabus of “Engineering Geology” subject.

Students have visited three major models at CWPRS as follows:

1.Vishakhapattanam Port model

2.Yamuna River Model

3.Current meter calibrator

Purpose behind visiting these models is to make students understand the Geo morphological aspects visually and its effect on the Civil Structures. How to consider the geological aspects and what are the advantage and disadvantages of it are present. How to tackle with the natural problems and how to in cash the natural advantages related to geology in Civil Engineering is been explained very well by Geotechnical Engineers at sites. Like If the Port construction has to do in a particular site what are the geological aspects have to consider starts from sediments intake, wave action, wave energy, and weather the site was depositional etc is explained very well.

Geology Visit to TAMHINI GHAT SECTION AND SHIKADI BEACH:

As Geology being the field science, the study tour was organized for the Second year engineering students. A civil engineer always deals with rocks same as geologist. So it’s quite essential for students to understand the basic rock types, their formation process, their field relationships and last but not the least their ecological importance.

In order to achieve above mentioned goals and also to satisfy the need of the syllabus, one day study tour was organized by the civil department to “TAMHINI GHAT SECTION AND SHIKADI BEACH” on 14th March 2015(Saturday).

The primary objectives of the field visit was

a) Introduction to Deccan Volcanic Province

b) Introduction to Basalt and its types in the field

c) Physical volcanology.

d) To study the Beach profile, understand the concept of sediment.
